Anger and Patience

In a video lesson from Gelek Rimpoche:

Anger pops up out of our minds like burnt toast out of a toaster. Patience, like jam and butter, makes the anger tastier and easier to live with.

Enthusiasm for Pundits Clouds My Memory

Back when I posted the Community Wireless Network listserv response on the $tarbuck$/Tmobile wifi blocking controversy, I forgot about an email I recieved from John M, a fellow Clevelander Everyman with a laptop. He confirmed my experience at the E 14th Street $tarbuck$.

This is true $tarbuk$ is blocking access to Freelink from there Playhouse Sq. store...I to went there a few weeks ago attempting to connect to check morning email before a meeting...After paying for my OVER priced java. I have/will make efforts to NOT go to $buck$...Too petty for me, I can (and do) go elsewhere for my coffee...

How could I forget him? He confirmed that I wasn't crazy (at least this time.) We need some validation sometimes.

I'm Craving the "Chosen Beer"

After a nice warm day outside, wifi'n away in the sun, I've got the thirst for more He'Brew. Ever since I finished up the ClevO Wifi Tour with one, I haven't been able to find any closer to home than the Grovewood. Oy! I guess I can't get away from my birth roots.

Check out their website, www.shmaltz.com (schmaltz is chicken fat). You got to love their schtick.
Which reminds me, two rabbis walk into a bar ...

I Feel Lucky

Hanging out on the picnic table in the back of Lucky's in Tremont. Have good wifi signal (yeay TWIFI), quiet work atmosphere, and a delicious mocha, in case anybody cares to know.

Damn, I love Spring.

Good Day for Outside Wifi

03/30/05 | by steveg [mail] | Categories: WiFi

The weather report for Cleveland predicts temps "kissing" 60 degrees F. After our extended Winter weather, this seems glorious. While Valdis is out doing the ClevO EN (Emerald Necklace) Tour with Marty, his son, I think I will go out and find a nice outdoor free wifi hotspot to do today's work.

More CleveO Tours

03/30/05 | by steveg [mail] | Categories: WiFi

Valdis Krebs is going to go on another CleveO Tour. This time with his son, Marty, and they are going to go through our underutilized, incredibly valuble resource, the MetroParks System of the Emerald Necklace from Lakewood to Willoughby Hills.

I love the idea and I sent VK this response:

This sounds very cool. It will shift the emphasis away from Wifi and hi-tech to the important issue of connections and relating to one another. It
shows that meeting and relating is not dependent of the level of technology. That the technology is only a tool, a means to the real goal , that is engaging one another. This can be through an open wiki dialogue or by picnicing and walking and talking
together in the woods.

More HotSpots

While I was racking up some billable hours yesterday, I was listening to the parade of podcasts George put up from the ClevO Wifi Tour. In the multitude of conversation topics with the plethora of people we met, new unknown hotspots in the region kept popping up.

So I have added another 7 places on top of the addition from Kristal to the Cleveland Wifi Wiki. Thanks Kristal for actually USING the wiki as the COMMUNITY COLLABORATIVE SPACE that it was designed for, (G).

BTW, what is this about replacing me next time by hiring Jack as a project manager with Gantts and budgets? ;)

No Strangers

Yesterday, I watched a short documentary video on the Dalai Lama called Heart of Tibet. In it, His Holiness responded to a question on what his experience was like being peppered with questions in a newsconference. I paraphase:

When I meet someone, anyone, I never feel that I am with a stranger.

A lesson in interconnectedness and something to aspire to.

Cool is What Cool Does

While Spring cleaning my office area, I came across the print copy of this chuckle in an old Free Times (Aug 4, 2004). Brian McFadden is an artist and blogger and considering I still get remarks like "That thing you did was coool!" (like for the ClevO Wifi Tour), I have to wonder if this is in my future.

Max Baxter, cool

Does Thomas Mulready ever have one of these days?

The Story is Out

True to his word, Chris Seper got his piece on the ClevOh Wifi Tour in today's Plain Dealer. A good positive piece with accurate quotes and highlighting what George, Valdis, and I wanted to do.
